Finally Fantajikuu Friday!

Today's lunch at The Yale Club in Manhattan is shaping up as a humdinger. It looks like we'll be about 200-strong, including Kyle Snyder, Charles Steinberg and Joe Castiglione from the Red Sox. We can still probably shoehorn an extra seat in, so bring yourself and some form of legal tender if you're so inclined.

Big Papi In The Big Apple

We're given to understand that David Ortiz will be autographing copies of his newly published book "Big Papi! My Story of Big Dreams and Big Hits" at the Barnes & Noble at 555 5th Ave. (cormer of W. 46th St.) on Monday April 30, from noon to 2:00. You'll probably want to pick up a couple dozen copies, what with the holidays only eight months away and all!

Jim Kaat: I may be out of baseball for the first time in over 50 years, but I am still paying attention to the game. One of the most intriguing stories of the early part of this season is Daisuke Matsuzaka's transition from Japanese ball to the Major Leagues.

Get Well Jerry - Update

Our friend Jerry Casale is in good spirits and recovering at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ. He may soon be ready for a move to rehab, after a few difficult days, according to an update we received yesterday.

Get Well Jerry

Our thoughts and prayers are with friend, BLOHARD, and former Red Sox pitcher Jerry Casale who is recuperating from a stroke, according to a report in today's Boston Globe. Casale, who for years operated the popular Pino's restaurant in mid-town Manhattan, is recovering in New Jersey. We'll post more info as soon as we receive it.
